Summary

The Methodist Celina Medical Center construction represents a milestone for one of the fastest-growing communities in the United States, delivering Celina’s first full-service hospital and expanding access to critical healthcare across North Texas.

Delivered by Skiles Group as a $161 million healthcare campus, the project transformed previously undeveloped land into a comprehensive medical destination, bringing life-saving care closer to home for a rapidly growing population.

Project Overview

The campus includes a 200,000-square-foot, four-story acute care hospital with 118 licensed beds across multiple patient types, including medical/surgical, ICU, emergency, and labor and delivery. Clinical capabilities include three operating rooms, two procedure rooms, a catheterization lab, and specialized programs for women’s, cardiovascular, cancer, and orthopedic care.

A separate 45,000-square-foot, two-story professional office building (POB) supports affiliated physicians and outpatient services, creating a cohesive, fully integrated healthcare campus. Additional site components include a helipad, central utility plant, surface parking, detention systems, and infrastructure designed to support future expansion.

Building a Hospital from the Ground Up

Constructed on a greenfield site in a rapidly evolving rural-to-suburban community, the project presented unique challenges from the outset. Limited existing infrastructure, expansive soil conditions, and ongoing municipal development required continuous coordination and adaptability throughout the process.

At the same time, the project was delivered on a fast-track schedule with evolving design documentation in a post-pandemic construction environment, marked by labor constraints, material volatility, and extended procurement timelines.

Lean Healthcare Construction in Action

Skiles Group applied its Lean construction approach to navigate complexity and maintain momentum. Through early collaboration, detailed preconstruction planning, and continuous coordination with the owner, design team, trade partners, and public agencies, the team streamlined decision-making and reduced inefficiencies.

This disciplined approach enabled the project to be delivered on time and under budget while maintaining the quality and performance standards required for a modern healthcare facility.

Impact on the Community

More than a construction project, Methodist Celina Medical Center construction has been described as a “game changer” for the region. For the first time, residents have access to comprehensive, high-quality healthcare services close to home, reducing travel times and improving outcomes for patients and families across the area.

As Celina continues to grow, the campus is positioned to scale alongside the community, supporting long-term healthcare needs for years to come.
