Summary

Methodist Richardson OR and PACU expansion will help the hospital increase surgical capacity and support more patients across North Texas.

The 7,500 SF expansion includes a horizontal addition that strengthens both surgical and recovery operations through:

  • Two fully equipped operating rooms, along with two additional shell spaces for future OR expansion.

  • 16 new PACU bays, expanding post-anesthesia recovery capacity.

  • Conversion of existing storage space into six new Pre-Operation bays to better support surgical preparation.

  • Installation of gas booms, light booms, and 22 fully equipped headwalls supporting advanced surgical environments.

  • Two new air handlers to support the mechanical demands of surgical suites.

  • High-level interior finishes appropriate for critical care environments.

Beyond the surgical suite itself, the project also strengthened the hospital’s central plant infrastructure:

  • Installation of a new 550-ton air-cooled chiller on top of the existing Central Utility Plant.

  • Retrofit and upgrades to two cooling towers, supporting campus-wide cooling capacity.

Together, these improvements help Methodist Richardson increase surgical throughput, care for more patients, and continue delivering life-saving treatment to the community.
