A Look Back, A Look Ahead

February 25, 2019

I’ve spent the past 32 years of my life with Skiles Group; needless to say, I have seen many different growth phases, but none have compared with what we experienced in 2018. It’s been a distinct pleasure to be leading our company through our largest growth phase thus far – and also our most transformative.

One of the primary drivers of this most transformation has been our wholesale adoption of Lean. Five years ago, we made the strategic decision to go “all in” on Lean, and it has been one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. You’ll see some highlights from our efforts and the people behind it throughout our website. We have champions at every level, and the difference this makes allows for us to really recognize the fruits of our labor.

Another driver in our transformation has been our adoption of the Entrepreneurial Operating System, which changes everything about the way a business is operated – from the way you strategize all the way through to the way you measure results. If you’re not familiar with EOS, a good place to start is by picking up the book Traction by Geno Wickman. I can promise that it’ll change the way you’ll run your business.

Skiles Group was born 47 years ago out of a desire to “Serve with Passion” and to “Be Curious” about finding a better way to do things. By “Working Together,” we’re able to achieve this desire, never losing site of always “Doing the Right Thing.” These are our four Core Values; they serve as our foundation and have helped us to build a dynamic culture where our employees can grow and thrive. We employ one of the most talented groups of people in the industry.

I’m so proud of the company we’ve become, and I look forward to coming into work each day to continue building the company of our shared vision, which is centered around our WHY: We believe there’s a better way to build. We’re always looking for this “better way,” not just to evolve our firm through Lean and EOS and beyond, but also to push our entire industry forward by sharing what we’ve already learned as well as what we’re exploring or experimenting with.

I know 2019 is going to be an amazing year, and I hope you’ll be a part of it with us. Follow us on LinkedIn, Facebook, or Twitter – or better yet, reach out any time and let’s get together to talk in person.
