OSHA’s National Safety Stand-Down was this week! Fatalities caused by falls from heights continue to be the leading cause of death for construction employees. Falls accounted for 351 of the 1,008 construction fatalities recorded in 2020 (BLS data).
Skiles Group hosted National Safety Stand-Downs with our Director of Safety Brian Webster across our job sites over several weeks to raise fall hazard awareness to stop fall fatalities and injuries. The stand-downs focus on falls from Ladders, Scaffolds, Lifts, and the use of Personal Fall Arrest Systems.
The events are also being used as worker appreciation events. By making the stand-downs more memorable, we hope to help make fall hazard awareness stand out in our workers’ minds.
