Methodist Midlothian Emergency Department Expansion Project

March 24, 2026

Meet the Project Team supporting the expansion of emergency care services at Methodist Health System’s Methodist Midlothian Medical Center.

This 8,500 SF project will double the size of the hospital’s Emergency Department, part of Methodist Midlothian’s continued investment in expanding emergency services for Ellis County.

Here’s what the expansion will deliver:
◾ The addition of 15 new exam rooms and two new secure hold exam rooms, increasing patient capacity and improving care delivery.
◾ The relocation of the existing isolation exam room, allowing the hospital to reconfigure patient flow and better support emergency operations.
◾ The conversion of the former isolation suite into a trauma room, strengthening the hospital’s ability to respond to critical cases.
◾ The installation of a dedicated CT imaging suite, expanding diagnostic capabilities and enabling faster imaging for emergency patients.

The project also includes the construction of a new parking lot to improve access for patients and visitors.

Located adjacent to the hospital’s helipad, the expanded Emergency Department will help strengthen Methodist Midlothian’s ability to receive and treat patients arriving during critical emergencies.

What makes this project complex?
◾ Expanding an Emergency Department requires careful sequencing to ensure patient care continues uninterrupted while construction progresses.
◾ The team must coordinate new imaging infrastructure, exam room buildouts, and trauma care upgrades while working within the operational constraints of an active hospital campus.
◾ At the same time, site work for the new parking area must be carefully planned to maintain safe access for patients, staff, and emergency vehicles throughout the project.

From interior renovations to site improvements, Ross Brindle, Ryan Pence, David Veliz, and John Tribble are leading the effort with steady coordination and attention to detail alongside the Methodist Midlothian team (Alisa Carlson, Emily Buckley Dykes, MHA, Kevin Shillings, David Gates), GUIDE Architecture, LLC (Andrew Hanson, Mark Kitchens), WSP (Collin Upham), Salas O’Brien (Jiri Vik), ClayMoore Engineering (Drew Donosky), KENDALL LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE (Michael Kendall), and the dedicated trade partners listed in the comments.
