OSHA’s 10th annual National Safety Stand-Down was recognized this week on construction sites across the country to increase awareness and help to reduce the number of injuries and fatalities in our industry. Because fatalities caused by falls from elevation continue to be a leading cause of death for construction employees (accounting for 378 of the 986 construction fatalities),
Skiles Group hosts National Safety Stand-Downs across all our jobsites during the entire month of May as part of this national effort. Depending on the status of the project, our stand-downs focus on either Personal Fall Arrest Systems and the main cause of falls—from ladders, scaffolds, and lifts—or on the “Fatal Four” hazards, which are Falls, Struck-By, Caught-in Between, and Electrocutions.
